 | if monk himself cannot bring himself to post in here, can somebody please translate this post that he put in another thread Jag kan förstå att många är besvikna, och jag tycker också att det är oerhört tråkigt eftersom det var mycket jobb med att bygga upp den engelska Betapet. Frågan är om det finns något "snyggt" sätt att stänga en site på. Att förvarna skulle lett till stort antal mail vilka vi inte hade haft tid att besvara och bara skapat ytterligare besvikelse hos medlemmarna. Det jag tycker är mest tråkigt var att vi inte kunde tacka av de spelvärldar som hjälpt till att administrera sajten på ett bra sätt. | I hear what you are saying Monk/Mouche.....but in some ways it shows that we were the poor relations of Betapet and that the powers that be couldnt really care less about our thoughts on the subject....Nina,Caw Mouche,Cel etc excepted. It seems that Monk and the other seniors were hiding their heads in the sand. Surely the decision was not taken overnight and that the right and proper thing to have done was to at least have given us the opportunity to voice our ideas and opinions so that,perhaps, a satisfactory solution could have been reached. It seems to me that Mouche and co are getting even more flak through doing it the way it has been done. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....at least listen to us and give us a room if you cannot give us our own site back. | |

 | hiya better, dad, lufc, Mouche, nina and all my friends at english beta.... regarding the low numbers of players that Monk has mentioned.... i don´t think, as many have said, coz its all about certain options missing... think its all about lack of advertisement.. and i know it cost a lot to do that but there are many free ways of advertising the site in order to draw traffic.... i know i have mentioned this before in english beta forum... sorry Mouche but i just have to mention this one more time... one way of advertising the site for free is to sort of do the "exchange favor" procedure... meaning, let less known and small sites to advertise for free in beta site and vice versa, to begin with anyways... i mentioned this during the discussion regarding the tourney that went on in english beta.... Tourney leagues is, i think, one of the best ways to advertise beta for free.... forget about the bux system coz its all fake bux nyways, virtual money... think there´s been a lot of misundertanding regarding that matter in english beta before.... let peeps run a tourney in the site and in exchange, they must advertise for the beta site at the game league sites they´re using.... another way is ask players to recruit members, i for one has been doing that since i became a member.... i work part time designing websites, i would be happy to put on a link to the site... there are numbers of ways to advertise for free... reopen the site... ask members to find a way to advertise the site, think everyone will be glad to help out.... let peeps run tourney leagues... try it out for at least a couple of months more.... when the number of players/members increases... then english betapet site will sure be more an interesting site for firms/company to advertise at now... give us back our site!!!! he he :-)) | |

| oh... and one more thing... regarding the banning of players.... most of them got back... including me lol.... but think it would do good if there are english speaking amongst the supervisors... i do believe that a lot of those bannings we´re coz of misunderstanding from both sides... even english speaking people misunderstand each other so i think its important they have one american and one english that really understand each other... this would, i think anyways, would save a lot of hard work :-) | |

| Told Odin long ago same thing (English speaking ) Maggie-as far as numbers of players word of mouth works really well especially in the scrabble communities..but people came in and tried and left for the reasons i mentioned (which I also mentioned to Odin long ago (like at the start of the English language betapet). Lufc hi, we were the ugly stepsisters or wouldn't have been treated that way. By the way just another of my thoughts..those that have the least time really have the most they just have to budget it appropriately. I would like to see someone respond as to whether or not an English speaking room will be added. It's not a question that takes a long time to respond too and that way we will all know what is going on. | |

| Hi, Serensdad - I bought and downloaded a Swedish - English translator when I saw your post this morning! Maybe we could start playing in Swedish! Never too late to learn another language! Not that many in North America speak the language but perhaps we could give it a go! Have to set the game for unlimited - may take a day or two to complete a game but I'm willing! I signed up at another Scrabble site - it needed to come with a set of instructions! I sure miss Beta Pet and I'm with betterlate - it shouldn't take a long time to answer our question: Will you kindly set up an English speaking room to this site? Jag hoppas det. (I hope so!) Se, jag "nästan redo att spela i svenska! See, I'm nearly ready to play in Swedish! One other idea: I'd be more than happy to pay to use the site. If you don't have enough advertisers or need more money, then ask us to pay a fair price. Harmony1 I can understand that many are disappointed, and I also think that it is extremely sad because it was very job of building up the English Betapet. The question is whether there is any "fun" way to close a site. Any advance warning would have led to large number mail which we had not had the time to reply to, and only created further disappointment of the members. I think it is most unfortunate was that we could not thank of the game worlds who helped it to administer site in a good way. They have done an extremely fine piece of work which we are proud of. | |

| just copying and pasting purple´s post from the swedish thread "engelska betapet" Monk & Odin :-( I'm so sad to see the English betapet site go.I've had a look at some other sites and in my opinion they are nowhere near as good as beta. When the english site was open we had 2 rooms in there that were not english i think 1 of them was Norwegian.Would there be any chance of having an English room in here? | Hi everyone i posted a thread about this but i think i put it in the wrong place as the only word i know in swedish is "slumpad"! Mouche or Nina if you come across my wayward post please redirect it to here but basically it says :-( so please give us a room and bring a :-) back to my face. | A long time ago I mentioned to odin that perhaps we could pay something to keep the site going since I know it takes time and effort which can translate to money ..he said no ..well how bout now odin? how bout some sort of response to a room here so we know to keep our hopes up or not too? just a yes or no would really work well-we all might even forgive the rudeness with which closing that site with no warning was done. :) | |
